For the second year, I'm proud to be taking part of the LocalDesign group showing at Milan Design Fair 5 Vie, in the Antico Oratorio Della Passione, Piazza Sant'Ambrogio 15, 20123 Milan, Italy (Map below).

I have collaborated with designer Ryan McGoldrick to create a series of individual lit sculptures - handspun steel backs, anodised by F!NK with multi layered, laser cut and hand silkscreen printed artworks. Each is unique and available to commission.

The pieces were created with a mind to interlocking shapes, colour overlays and the interaction of opaque, clear and reflective surfaces with light.

Now in it's second year LOCAL DESIGN presents LOCAL MILAN proudly sponsored by Brickworks Building Products - A showcase of 11 established Australian designers curated by designer, stylist & creative director of LOCAL DESIGN Emma Elizabeth.

Over 8000 white bricks will be hand placed within the iconic church setting of Oratorio Della Passione for Milan Design Week 2017 within the 5 Vie District.

Where design meets art...? Or does art meet design..? We will let you put on your white gloves & decide.

As part of Milan Design Week, showing at the beautiful Teatro Arsenal curated by Emma Elizabeth and Tom Fereday of Local Design, Sydney, I participated in the group showing of twelve Australian designer/artists. My interlocking perspex piece sat alongside the beautiful works of the two curators as well as Shilo Engelbrecht, Frag Woodall, Alex Fitzpatrick, DAAST, Coco Reynolds, Toby Jones, Rachel Vosila, Andrew Thompson and Ton Skeehan.

The piece I created is based upon a childhood game I had, scaled up to an adult size and titled 'The Games We Play'. It can be assembled and reassembled in different configurations and references relationships and the shadows that are cast by the silkscreen print which change throughout the day and light source direction.
